Broken Cisterns
Play water games to relate to Jeremiah’s message that the people were placing their hopes in broken cisterns and forsaken the springs of living water.
Jeremiah 5-6
Idolatry: The Serious Wound
God’s people refused to treat sin for the serious wound it was. Learn about it through a homemade operation game, a blindfolded search, and listening with plugged ears.
Jeremiah 7
Backward, Not Forward
With a backward obstacle course, explain to the kids how the Israelites had gone “backward and not forward” in how they followed God.
Jeremiah 11
The Plot Against Jeremiah
Jeremiah faced a lot of opposition while following God. Through activities, the kids will learn it isn’t always easy to follow God’s plans, but he gives us armor.
Jeremiah 23
The Righteous Branch
The shepherds (kings) were failing the Israelites in this time, but God promises them a Good Shepherd, a Righteous Branch- Jesus. Play a game to illustrate the difference between the Kings of Israel and the King of kings.
Jeremiah 26
Standing for What is Right
It isn’t always easy to stand up for what is right. In this lesson, learn from Jeremiah, work through scenarios of how to stand up for what is right, and create egg men that can’t be knocked down.
Jeremiah 30-31
Exile and Restoration
Explore what some scholars call the “Book of Consolation” that Jeremiah, inspired by the Holy Spirit, writes to comfort the Israelites before their exile. A reminder that hope is never lost.
Jeremiah 36
Burning of the Scroll
Have the students creatively tell back the story of King Jehoiakim burning the scroll that Jeremiah dictated to Baruch. This lesson contains options for a skit, an interview, and comic book pages.
